The roughly 450 staff of the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat in Bonn work towards the goal set out in the Framework Convention, namely to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that will prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system. Among other things, the staff support climate change negotiations and the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, organizes meetings, and analyzes and reviews climate change information and data reported by Parties. The secretariat also supports governments and institutions building resilience to the inevitable impacts of climate change and helps scale up climate action at all levels and in all sectors of society, including cities, regions, businesses, investors.
