Only Three Days Left Until the SDG Global Festival of Action
The fifth SDG Global Festival of Action, powered by the UN SDG Action Campaign, finds new ways to inspire, mobilize and connect people and organizations to take action on the SDGs. In light of the pandemic, the Festival will be held in a dynamic virtual space with six different stages, featuring plenary sessions, lightning talks, performances, interactive workshops, exhibitions and a space to connect with leaders, changemakers, activists, private sector and more.

Two book authors as well as entrepreneurs will present their experiences and guiding ideas about building business partnerships between the EU and Africa, development policy, European financing of infrastructure and successful entrepreneurship in Africa.

While the crisis has immediate effects on food and agricultural supply chains, the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is not limited to short-term disruptions in supply and demand. Considering that the food and agricultural sector accounts for ten percent of global GDP and employs an estimated 1.5 billion people worldwide, the outbreak of COVID-19 will likely have far-reaching and noticeable social and economic consequences for the sector.
A Tree of Peace for Bonn’s Rheinaue Park
In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a small Muku tree was planted near the Japanese garden in Bonn’s Rheinaue. The seed of the tree comes from trees in the former death zone and was given to the city of Bonn by the Mayors for Peace network.

Within this context, the SDG Action community is called to contribute – through the SDG Action Awards – tried and tested solutions and approaches with the potential to go to scale and to be replicated elsewhere, making them available to leaders and partners around the globe.
Global E-waste Surging: Up 21 per cent in 5 Years
A record 53.6 million metric tonnes (Mt) of electronic waste was generated worldwide in 2019, up 21 per cent in just five years, according to the UN’s Global E-waste Monitor 2020, released today.
