UNAIDS Will Open a New Office at the UN Campus in Bonn in Mid-2022

The United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) will open an office at the UN Campus in Bonn in mid-2022. A delegation of UNAIDS and the Federal Ministry of Health visited the City of Bonn today.

"I very much welcome the establishment of the UNAIDS office in our city and thank the Federal Government for its support," said Mayor Katja Dörner. "With UNAIDS, the UN family in Bonn will be one institution larger and richer in new areas of responsibility. Together, we will work towards the vision of zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths."

The meeting at the Old City Hall included an exchange on the international location and information on various issues of the city administration, such as administrative services, housing, and daycare and school. The delegations were welcomed by Mayor Melanie Grabowy, who represented Lord Mayor Katja Dörner.

The UNAIDS office will house UNAIDS’ management support functions, including People Management, Information and Communications Technology, Finance and the Independent Evaluation Office. Operations will begin in mid-2022 and will be part of the UNAIDS Secretariat’s more geographically distributed “global centre”. Approximately 45 UNAIDS staff will be working in Bonn.
