UN SDG Action Campaign supports world’s largest hackathon in response to COVID-19

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the largest ever global hackathon is taking place online this week. The aim is to exchange and implement ideas for urgently needed solutions to current global challenges. A large number of organizations worldwide are participating in the organization of the hackathon, which is supported by partners such as the EU Commission and IDEO. It will take place from 9 to 12 April, with an awards ceremony on the final day.

Press release: UN SDG Global Festival of Action postponed

Bonn, 09 March 2020 - In light of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 outbreak, the UN SDG Action Campaign has decided today to postpone the SDG Global Festival of Action, which was scheduled to take place at the World Conference Centre in Bonn, Germany, from 1 to 3 April 2020.

The decision has been taken after a round of consultations with the German Federal Government, local authorities in Bonn and other key stakeholders, and is based on the UN SDG Action Campaign’s commitment to the safety and well-being of SDG partners globally and in Bonn.

UN SDG Action Campaign Addresses Inequalities Through Virtual Reality Films

The UN SDG Action Campaign has selected 13 Virtual Reality films from UN Agencies and the MY World 360º young media creators showcasing the challenges of inequality and the importance of leaving no one behind. The movies will be screened at the European Development Days in Brussels, Belgium.

The films take place around the world – in the Philippines, Albania, South Africa, Nepal, Iraq, Malawi, Nigeria, Lao PDR, Germany, USA, Brazil and Mongolia – and cover topics such as migration, the prevention of STDs, family planning in remote areas, and child marriage.
