This year’s UN Day celebration in the City of Bonn took place on 20 October, just four days ahead of the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN-Charter on 24 October 1945, which marks the creation of the United Nations.
Federal President meets Heads of UN Organizations in Bonn
During his week-long stay at Villa Hammerschmidt in Bonn, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier also met with the Heads of Agencies of the United Nations Organisations in Germany.
Amongst other things, the meeting on 31. August 2018 revolved around Germany's seat on the UN-Security Council as well as the City of Bonn positioning as a UN-Hub for Sustainability and the 2030 Agenda. Furthermore, the Heads of Agencies updated Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on their work.

Although cities are often characterized by stark socioeconomic inequalities and poor environmental conditions, they also offer growth and development potential – making them central to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and a main focus of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), which is currently coming together in New York.

UNFCCC: Climate conference in Bonn
The 48th sessions of the Framework Convention on Climate Change’s (UNFCCC) Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 48) and Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 48) will convene in Bonn, Germany, from 30 April to 10 May 2018. The Bonn Climate Change Conference will also include the fifth part of the first session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Paris Agreement (APA 1-5).
The Subsidiary bodies hold the meeting in preparation for the COP 24 in Kattowitz.

AEWA: 5th Pan-European Duck Symposium
The 5th Pan-European Duck Symposium will take place on the Isle of Great Cumbrae in Scotland from April 16 to April 20.
The symposium takes place in different places in Europe every three years. This conference attracts a wide variety of duck biologists, conservationists and wildfowl managers from all over Europe and further afield.
