Bonn Buildings Will Be Lit up in Blue

UN Day on 24 October: Bonn Buildings Will Be Lit up in Blue

To mark the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC), with the support of UN Under-Secretary-General Fabrizio Hochschild, has launched an initiative in Europe to lit up buildings and monuments in blue.

For this Europe-wide campaign, many of the most famous buildings and monuments, as well as bridges, airports, museums and other landmarks on the continent where many of the founding states of the United Nations are located will be lit up in the United Nations blue color. This year, October 24th marks the 75th anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945.

The initiative is a symbolic effort to unite world citizens; promote the universal language of peace, sustainable development and human rights; spread hope in these uncertain times and highlight support for the goals and ideals of the United Nations.

In Bonn, the Lange Eugen and the Old City Hall will shine in blue on the evening of October 24.
