„Join the Action” - Exhibition "The United Nations in Germany and the 2030 Agenda" opened in Bonn
Yesterday, the exhibition "The United Nations in Germany and the 2030 Agenda" was opened during a press event at city library in Bonn. The exhibition provides information on the commitment to sustainability, climate protection and research of UN-organizations based in Germany.
Ingrid Jung, Ambassador and Head of the Bonn Liaison Office of the Foreign Office to the UN campus in Bonn and to the International Organizations in Germany welcomed the guests and said in the opening speech: "The adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015 by all member states of the United Nations was an important milestone. Sustainable development demands to take responsibility. Here in Bonn, important steps are taken to implement the Agenda and raise awareness. This exhibition is intended to give us all the courage to achieve the objectives of 2030 Agenda.”
Stefan Wagner, Head of the Department of International Affairs and Global Sustainability of the city of Bonn, added: "Bonn is now a major UN site, particularly with respect to the issue of sustainability. The exhibition shows the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, which are very important for the city of Bonn, too. We have just developed a sustainability strategy that is based on the SDGs. We are therefore all the more happy to show this exhibition here in Bonn. "
With a global call to join the action, Mrs. Jung finished her speech. The exhibition in the city library is open for visitors until November 25.
